The programming of the pick and place machine varies slightly by brand, but the basic steps of pick and place machine programming are generally similar.

- Pick and place position information: including position, coordinates, angle, etc. The customer will provide the corresponding BOM list, samples, and positioning diagrams;
- Basic information of the PCB: such as length, width, and thickness;
- Mark point information: optical mark coordinates and parameters;
- PCB assembly information: how many boards are connected;
- Material information: material part number specifications and parameters;
How to program a pick and place machine
Steps for Pick and Place Machine Programming
(There are two phases in pick and place machine programming: offline preparation and online debugging)
Offline Preparation Steps for the Pick and Place Machine:
- Prepare the BOM list table provided by the customer. The programming of the pick and place machine needs to be completed on a computer, so prepare the electronic document, preferably in Excel format;
- Extract coordinates (select different corresponding operation methods based on the files provided by the customer)
- If the customer sends coordinates in an Excel or txt document, the programming software can directly merge the coordinates with the BOM table;
- If the customer sends a PCB file, you need to export the coordinates yourself;
- If the customer provides a material list but cannot provide coordinates, a scanner must save the PCB scan in CAD format, then merge the coordinates and BOM, and check for missing, misaligned, or duplicated items. If there are any issues, contact the customer for confirmation; if none, save it in the format required by the machine;
Online Debugging Steps for the Pick and Place Machine:
- Import the programmed file into the pick and place machine;
- Find the origin point and create a mark;
- Calibrate coordinate positions;
- Optimize and save, recheck component orientation and data;
- Power on and confirm the first piece;
